Student Spotlight: Georges Clement (MPP 2020)

Georges Clement is the co-founder and acting executive director of JustFix.NYC, which has launched a new website to support tenants across the country struggling to pay rent during COVID-19: norent.org. The website helps tenants create a formal letter to notify a landlord of nonpayment of rent, customized by state, and mails it USPS Certified Mail for free.

New York City issued an eviction moratorium and closed its housing courts except for virtual-only emergency repair and illegal lockout cases. With all court filings now needing to be done digitally, JustFix has partnered with the housing court system to adapt their existing tools in order to streamline the emergency filing process for tenants with an online tool that enables tenants to create the emergency repair court filings and have them officially submitted to the courts.
